The has been extracted through the steam distillation of the flowering tops of the herb. Native to the Mediterranean, the main countries which produce this fresh oil are Tunisia, Spain and France. The plant belongs to the mint family which includes other herbs such as basil, sage, lavender and myrtle. Well known for its culinary use, this evergreen shrub produces a woody, refreshing herbaceous oil when steam distilled.

Rosemary oil is also extensively used in household products, for example room fresheners, diffusers, and scented candles in order to remove bad odours.

Popular in aromatherapy

Rosemary Oil is popular in aromatherapy. It has an uplifting, rich and warm aroma that will leave you feel invigorated and revitalised. Many use this oil to help concentration whilst studying. Help bring clarity to the mind by adding a few drops to your diffuser or oil burner and immerse yourself in the refreshing and uplifting aroma of Rosemary Essential Oil.

You can apply Rosemary Oil topically but, must be diluted with a carrier oil. Dilute at a percentage of 1% of the finished blend, 1ml (approx. 20 drops) of essential oil to 100ml of carrier oil. Do not use undiluted on the skin. You can use up to 3% dilution for use on your body or in the bath.
Blends well with: Basil, Cedarwood, Geranium Rose, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lemongrass, Lime, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Tangerine and Tea Tree.

As a natural antioxidant, when applied topically to the skin, diluted with a carrier oil, this oil can help to naturally fight against free radicals. Rosemary Oil has astringent properties so it can have a tightening effect on the skin. To discover the benefits for yourself, simply add it to your beauty regime as part of your cleanser, toner or moisturiser or why not try using Rosemary Oil as an ingredient to your homemade lotions, balms, creams and serums.

Create an intensive hair mask combining Rosemary Essential Oil with a carrier oil. We recommend Extra Virgin Olive Oil (#223) or (#203). Massage a few drops into your hair and scalp, cover with a towel and leave for around 30 minutes. Whenever you use an oil treatment on your hair, it is helpful to begin to lather the shampoo before adding lots of water to help emulsify the oil. This will help the oil rinse out fully.
